Eris is one of the largest known dwarf planets in our solar system. It is about the same size as Pluto.

Eris was first found by a team of astronomers in 2003. Scientists considered calling Eris a planet, but in 2006 they decided Eris should be called a dwarf planet. They also decided that Pluto should no longer be called a planet. Both Eris and Pluto became known as dwarf planets. This is a special name created for objects in our solar system that are similar but not quite like planets.
